I think this is the first time a name has been on all 13 top 5 lists. And strangely it was the last one I got.

Yes that's true. Elizabeth has been even more permanently popular than Mary, during the period covered at any rate. In the UK I'd have said that it was because of Elizabeth I and the current Queen, plus the fact that it's a biblical name, but I don't know what the explanation is for the US. Probably a combination of it being biblical, plus a nice name anyway (though I would say that - Elizabeth is my middle name!)

Elizabeth has always been my favorite name because it has so many great nicknames. I wished it had been my name so I could choose my own nickname.

I always like all the nicknames for Elizabeth, too. I also just think it's an awesome name.

Only did the quiz cos my names in it, but it was a very good quiz, elizabeth's popularity suprised me, despite its royal and religous background!

Old girl names sound fresh again. They went away for a long time, and now are making a comeback. This is different for boys, where most of them are overused and havent really had a "resting" period.

Usually, when I take these types of quizzes, I enjoy running out of time and kicking myself for what I couldn't come up with. For this quiz, it didn't really happen. It was still a fun one, though.

Surprised at no Eve or Esther, and I thought Beatles fans might have called their daughter Eleanor in the 60's!

@hodgetiger: Would you, even as a Beatles' fan, want to call your daughter Eleanor given the really dismal subject matter behind "Eleanor Rigby" (not to mention the end of the song)? After all, there are a lot of other Beatles-related girls' names to select from that are far better choices: Rita, Martha, Lucy, Michelle, just to list a few (without including those girls' names in songs the Beatles covered--like Anna or Sally).

That's charming, Quizmaster 91.:( I got all of them apart from Erika because I already had Erica. Isn't that just another spelling of the same name? Other than that, enjoyed it, thanks. Well, apart from the above comment, which is totally unnecessary.

@Bunnylump: the three above you were all references from a great Brian/Stewie exchange on "Family Guy" after Stewie wrote a (lame) song about the baby next door named "Susie". Guess what the song was called.

Names I actually tried: Ellie May, Euphrosyne, Ermengarde, Estrella, Evangeline, Europa, Eglantine. Why does my brain dig up these things on name quizzes but refuses to give me something as simple as Erica?

So relieved I didn't miss my own name, that is something I would do. Very surprised at the lack of Eve/Eva, that seems permanently popular where I live.

I checked to see if Elpheba ever caught on (and that would have been unfortunate). And @Ulkoma: At least "Lola" wasn't *exactly* about a girl
