Triplet_3, every night around this time I try to go to bed, and then I find another one of your quizzes and feel compelled to do it. So, so wrong.

Haha, glad to hear it! I usually release games first thing in the morning where I am (UK), so I guess it would be night-time over in the US.

Princess Diana is married in 1981. The name Diana explodes into popularity in the 80's and continues on after that. I think I'm seeing some correlation between the two events here.

Destiny? DESTINY??

Apparently Miley Cyrus' real first name is Destiny, so the trend makes sense. However, if you're NOT Miley Cyrus and that's your first name, then your "Destiny" is generally to be a pole dancer.

Actually, the name Diana was more popular in the 1940s and 50s that it has ever been again. You can look this up in the SSA data. Diana shows up here from 1980 on because most other popular D- names had plummeted.

I'm embarrassed that Destiny is the most recent #1 name. Seriously?

Interestingly, the name "Dorothy" number 1 for 50 years, dies off after the decade following "The Wizard of Oz"

I don't know ANY Destiny's in real life. I know that that was Miley Cyrus's birth name, but that's it. I guess I should expect to see that name a lot in a decade.

These quizzes always make me imagine shaking hands and meeting a boatload of Savannahs and Destinys in fifteen years.

The name-statistics nerd in me had to jump in: the surge of Destinies isn't really linked to Miley because it took place before she became inexplicably famous; it was already in the Top 100 in 1994. In fact, by 2006 (when Hannah Montana first coagulated), the name was already past its peak.

I met one girl named Destiny several years ago...only one. And she was kind of weird. One other thing...I am I the only one who thinks that Desiree is just about as weird as Destiny?

Really shocked that "Darla" didn't make the list. A tough, very fun quiz.
