| Triplet_3, I am starting, like a previous poster on another of these quizzes, to question the veracity of this source. It's not easy to find the original data from the U.S. Census, but the source also gives samples supposedly taken from the U.S. Social Security website. There are names on those lists which simply do not appear in the SS data. For instance, the 1900-1909 SS "sample" lists Rox, Keri, Haley, Zel, and Marci, none of which was among the top 1000 names for the dates indicated. I suspect that someone has tampered with the data. The fact that "Rhonda" appears throughout as a typo for Rhoda (verifiable by comparing the source lists to the SS website), also implies a certain level of carelessness. I have enjoyed these quizzes and was interested in using the source for my own onomastic research, but I feel that it is not trustworthy. |
