Interesting that most of those are still relatively common names today.

Rhonda is not the misspelling of Rhoda. I don't know if you have ever heard the song Help me Rhonda by the Beach Boys but that is a good example.

@Krys: Rhonda is a real name but it didn't come into use until the 1900s. Rhoda is a biblical name that was popular in the 1800s. http://www.behindthename.com/name/rhonda

Rhonda is a 20th century name that didn't exist in the early 1800s. Debbie is right. :)

I looked at the 1850 census images for Ronda or Rhonda, and found a whole lot of Rhoda's, spelled Rhoada in many cases. With the type of script they used then, a script lowercase a could be easily mistaken for a n, especially if the census taker had a habit of not completing the top of the a. However, there was a 4 year old from Norway, living in Wisconsin, whose name was RONDA Andersson. Maybe she was the first!

Wow, amazing how many of these names are now back in fashion 200 years later. Sophia, Olivia (inspired by Olive), Isabella... all top names currently, and all popular back in the 1810s. I guess girls' names don't change as much as we think -- they just take longer to cycle back into fashion.
