Audrey should be fifth for the 1930s.

I've just checked the source and Arlene is definitely fifth. Audrey is sixth.

Fun! I had one of these for L sitting in the docket and now I don't know if I can put it up without looking like a rip-off. :P Mine's for individual years, not decades, but still.

So long as you make it obvious in the quiz title/description that it's for individual years then it should be ok. When I get round to L then I'm going to make clear that it's by decade

Nah, I scrapped it. Being viewed even wrongly as a rip-off would be really unpleasant for me. I will stick with the endings and themes that I had already been doing.

Fair enough. It' up to you :) I really like the name endings quizzes you've been doing, and the flower & jewellery girl names one.

It always helps when you know enough people who go by each and every name on here, except for one, (the least guessed.)

Are you sure these statistics are accurate? I find it pretty hard to believe that "Allison" and "Alexandra" are not worthy of this quiz... and that some names on here are ahead of them.

Alice looks so out of place there among the 1940s names!

It's funny that I was born in 1960 and the ones I had the most trouble with were the 1950s and 1960s. Then I started thinking of people from those decades who were famous. Funicello and Bryant saved it for me.

The 1940s were clearly a dull decade - four of the top five are variations on the same name.

Funny that I actually guessed Agnes because I've seen it in a lot of literary stuff, yet have no clue how to pronounce it. How do you say it?

I tried every spelling of "Alison" I could think of, yet failed to come up with plain old "Alice." Silly me!

Interesting that Alice lost popularity after Disney's Alice in Wonderland came out.

@Zak6009 - Although I was also surprised to see Allison and Alexandra didn't make the list, these statistics match up perfectly with the SSA rankings. Allison's ranking is diluted because of alternate spellings, especially Alison. Alexandra was fairly uncommon until it started skyrocketing up the charts in the 80s, but by the time it approached the top 5 A names, Alexis had surpassed it. Alexandra just missed - it's the number 6 A name of the 90s.

I can't believe I got just about everything from 1880-1970,but missed most of the ones from 1980-2000. Funny things is I was born in 2000. :D

I missed Ada, Anita, Angela, Amy, Andrea, Annette, April, Ashley, Amber, Alyssa, Abigail, and Ava. In other words, I missed everything that wasn't previously mentioned in comments except "Arlene". And I have no idea how I got that one...

Surprised Agatha didn't make the U.S. top 5 in late 1800's/early 1900's, but wonder where it wdve ranked in the UK bcoz of Ms. Christie.
