It isn't nice. It is sad ;( My country is second worldwide. I thought it was first in Europe, but not in the world top.

Maybe the high suicide rate in the slavic countries has something to do with the decline. Or maybe that because of the bizarre E.U. legislation which allows free movement between all member states, those with larger GDP's are seeing an influx foreigners overloading public services.

It's most likely declining birth rates combined with lower life expectancies, made worse by a net out - migration in search of work, or some combination thereof. A lot more European countries would be on this list if it were not for immigration.

Are life expectancies decreasing in Eastern Europe? I would expect that in, say, Southern Africa, but not the Slavic countries.

Eastern Europe just has ridiculously low birth rates. Birth rates among native Western Europeans are even lower but that is balanced by net immigration and immigrants account for most of the birth rates in Western Europe.
