| i downvoted the mark grace comment. it's hardly unbelievable for anyone who paid attention. his career began in the very end of the 80s and ended in the very beginning of the 2000s, he hit .300 or better every year, played every game, hit early in the lineup, and had no years of ineffectiveness due either to youth or age during the decade - tho i do recall he had one slightly off year. but yea he's not a surprising name. maybe surprising to be in first, but not to be on the list. grace was amazing. check his on-base numbers, too, and then consider that he was also the best defensive first baseman of his era. a tremendous player. |
