Cardiff, Wales, staged an England v Australia test match recently.
Dec 30th, 2010 at 11:46 GMT
I give this quiz 5 globes purely because there isn't a mention of NFL/NHL/NBA/MLB/USA in sight. It's so rare to find a good Sports quiz that isn't so unashamedly USA-orientated.
Dec 30th, 2010 at 14:16 GMT
Pretty sure Nagpur is not in New Zealand. :)
Dec 30th, 2010 at 15:25 GMT
^^Pretty certain it's in India :)
Dec 31st, 2010 at 09:41 GMT
Please accept different spellings for the sub-continent names. For the vast majority of tests the cities were known as Calcutta, Madras, Bombay, Dacca etc. Nagpur is definitely in India

finally a good cricket-geography quiz!
Dec 31st, 2010 at 17:55 GMT
Good quiz! I can't belive I forgot Port Elisabeth, Hyderabad & Hamilton and of course, could I remember Chester-le-Street? No,I bloody couldn't as I couldn't get Durham out of my head even after it didn't accept it!! Still, very enjoyable all the same! I agree you should allow the 'old' names of the major Indian cities even though many of us do know the 'new' names.

Great stuff. Tricky too.

Finally a decent cricket quiz! I got a little bit excited when I saw it.

Excellent cricket quiz! Please accept Pretoria for Centurion though.
Jan 18th, 2011 at 03:36 GMT
Very good. I had no idea so many places around the world had hosted one or two Tests. Can't believe I didn't get Nottingham! I was wracking my brains thinking of the major English grounds: Lords, the Oval, Headingley, Old Trafford... and the other one.
Jan 21st, 2011 at 11:55 GMT
Awesome quiz. I've watched so much cricket in my time but it was awesomely tricky. Love it.

Did Toronto not host an annual test between India & Pakistan? Sahara Cup?
Jan 24th, 2011 at 18:00 GMT
@The_Road_Guy that was a One Day International (ODI) series rather than a test series.
Jan 24th, 2011 at 18:56 GMT
Great quiz, loved it. Shouldn't 'Durham' be accepted for 'Chester-le-street'?
Jan 24th, 2011 at 20:16 GMT
Fantastic quiz; definitely five globes for this. One tiny thing, though; there's a misspelling in the final one.
Jan 24th, 2011 at 20:30 GMT
Great quiz - although I'd call myself a cricket nut, I slipped up on a few. England and Australia are relatively easy but India and Pakistan have played in more places than I can remember!
Jan 24th, 2011 at 20:48 GMT
@the_luggage no, Durham is the county that plays at Chester-le-Street, but the city of Durham is a few miles away, so it would be incorrect to accept Durham.
Jan 24th, 2011 at 21:21 GMT
Even though I don't follow cricket, this was still a fun 'name every large city you can in former British protectorates' quiz. I would suggest changing the title to "...name the World Cities with the most Cricket Tests". As it's currently worded it sounds like you have to match each city to the number of tests.
Jan 24th, 2011 at 22:24 GMT
44 - not band for a Yank that knows nothing about cricket!
Jan 25th, 2011 at 00:39 GMT
Argh, I will learn to spell Bloemfontein!
Jan 25th, 2011 at 01:25 GMT
hard quiz, but great
Jan 25th, 2011 at 17:59 GMT
Sheikhupura is in Pakistan, not India.

i was completely lost by this quiz, had no idea what a cricket test was, so i just guessed cities in these countries. Im sorry but am an american, we play a game that involves hitting a ball with a stick thats actually a sport, its called baseball
Jan 29th, 2011 at 22:18 GMT
I know I shouldn't rise to your silly comment, but many of us play a sport which is far, far more popular than baseball, which is played in more than a couple of countries, and which requires a lot more skill than your glorified rounders. It's called cricket. Watchi t some time - it blows baseball out of the water.
Jan 29th, 2011 at 23:30 GMT
If baseball is so much better than cricket why is the whole world playing cricket?
Jan 31st, 2011 at 09:16 GMT
great quiz... keep these cricket quizzes coming up...
Jan 31st, 2011 at 19:49 GMT
Beatlesfan, you are absolutely right. You should be sorry.
Feb 5th, 2011 at 10:40 GMT
Yeah and I suppose the guy who "invented" baseball had never saw a cricket match before, he just decided that it would be cool to hit a ball with a wooden stick and then start running... Baseball wouldn't exist without cricket
Feb 18th, 2011 at 16:41 GMT
Whats a test? ( And here come the down votes! :) )
Mar 2nd, 2011 at 10:45 GMT
@jmatt22397 - a test match is an international cricket game lasting up to 5 days with each team playing two innings.
Mar 12th, 2011 at 19:15 GMT
Pallekelle is part of Kandy, and should be included in Kandy? (Not 100% certain, perhaps a Sri Lankan can correct me if I'm wrong - but I'm pretty confident this is right)
Apr 20th, 2011 at 21:36 GMT
I'm American but I once played cricket with a Pakistani friend, and I got to admit, it's as good as baseball. Not better. Not worse. They're just different, and you shouldn't compare them.
Apr 22nd, 2011 at 02:43 GMT
this is one of those quizzes that makes me sad to be an american, simply because of all the hate that we seem to have towards fine sports like football/soccer and cricket and all their fans, as it only seems to create likewise feelings, even though the only bad sport in the universe is NASCAR
Jun 6th, 2011 at 11:49 GMT
Tiny correction - Sheikhupura is in Pakistan. It was the place where Wasim Akram took Zimbabwe for a 257-run ride.
Jul 6th, 2011 at 01:02 GMT
If these are regularly updated, you now need to add Southampton to the list as England played Sri Lanka at the Rose Bowl last month.
Aug 25th, 2011 at 21:24 GMT
A cricket is a bug
