Before everyone chimes in with the too much time remark, remember not everyone on Sporcle is American, right amount of time, good quiz.
Sep 20th, 2010 at 20:20 GMT
I'm American and the time was okay by me. Had to think on some believe it or not ;).
Sep 20th, 2010 at 23:15 GMT
Loved it and thanks for the citation!
Sep 21st, 2010 at 09:53 GMT
The time was fine. I'm British and have learned all the states and their capitals by Sporcle, but am not always so hot on the abbreviations. So it felt great to get 100% with just a few seconds to spare.
Sep 21st, 2010 at 19:20 GMT
If you're stuck, put an A, an M, or an N in front of the given letter and see what you get. All but one work this way.
Sep 21st, 2010 at 20:53 GMT
Good amt of time. Well done. Nominated.

I'm in the camp that believes there is no such thing as too much time on these. ;) Fun quiz!

surprised that "S" is the least guessed letter - one of those states has FOUR S's in it!
Oct 1st, 2011 at 05:05 GMT
Dammit, missed the 'M'.
Oct 1st, 2011 at 05:07 GMT
First quiz that I've noticed the new clock. Loving it, Sporcle!
Oct 1st, 2011 at 05:46 GMT
Almost tripped up by the state I was born and lived 20 years in. Yikes! The new clock must have bedazzled me temporrily. tricky, tricky....

ha! i was against the pause button but received a phone call halfway through this game. i let time go on for about 5 seconds before realising i can now pause it. true story!
Oct 1st, 2011 at 12:52 GMT
Like the new size, but not really the pause button.
Oct 1st, 2011 at 14:27 GMT
I'm a single parent...frequently get "mommy" calls...I like the pause button for that alone.
Oct 1st, 2011 at 15:10 GMT
You can't trust the stats. The pause button has too much room for abuse.
Oct 1st, 2011 at 16:32 GMT
Pause button? What pause button? I don't remember being informed about the pause button!!!
Oct 1st, 2011 at 16:55 GMT
Well, if you pause, you shouldn't be able to see the questions. Thus, eliminating the cheating.
Oct 1st, 2011 at 17:08 GMT
The pause button is helpful for quizzes where time isn't an issue, especially the longer ones, where you can easily be interrupted halfway through and now you don't have to lose all of your work. But for quizzes where you're racing against the clock it allows cheating, because even though they hide the questions, you can still remember them and think of answers while it's paused.
Oct 1st, 2011 at 17:56 GMT
'Cheating' was already possible on these quizzes, because the information is online and you can take them as many times as you want. The people who never looked up answers before probably won't suddenly start abusing the pause button now. And it's great for those frustrating times when you get interrupted in the middle of a quiz. I'm definitely a fan!
Oct 1st, 2011 at 18:06 GMT
You can't see the questions while the game is paused.
Oct 1st, 2011 at 20:14 GMT
you may not be able to see the questions, and not saying you'll look them up either, but a quiz like this where you know the question, and you have more time to think while its paused... it can definitely be abused, but i've been wanting a pause button anyway, w/ or w/o abuse it can come in handy if phone rings, or company comes over or something..

Geez, I'm an idiot...blanked for about ten seconds on N before finally thinking of Minnesota...evidently forgetting the fact that I spent the first 18 years of my life in Indiana... :-P
Oct 1st, 2011 at 20:44 GMT
For some reason, the Carolinas totally escaped me.
Oct 1st, 2011 at 22:38 GMT
I got 13. Not bad for a Canadian, I guess?
Oct 1st, 2011 at 23:35 GMT
Big sweep here. Thanks for the quiz!
Oct 2nd, 2011 at 03:03 GMT
Got them all.
Oct 2nd, 2011 at 04:52 GMT
First guess for "S" was American Samoa. Does that make me a post office nerd?
Oct 2nd, 2011 at 12:18 GMT
Love the pause button. Life happens!
Oct 2nd, 2011 at 18:18 GMT
So what if people cheat? This is an online trivia quiz, not the bar exam.
Oct 2nd, 2011 at 21:18 GMT
This was really a lot of fun. Can't wait for someone to complain about being too American.
Oct 3rd, 2011 at 06:10 GMT
You could, if you wanted (but maybe not now that the quiz is published) add territories, commonwealths and districts like DC, PR, VI, AS (Am. Samoa), GM (Guam) and MP (Northern Marianas, formerly Marianas Protectorate). They all send a non-voting delegate or resident commissioner to Congress.
X was the one that made me run through the alphabet in my head, and like fm_ I thought first of American Samoa, although I've never been anywhere near there.

A fun quiz, and 2 minutes was just enough to make me sweat it out!
Oct 4th, 2011 at 15:01 GMT
I'm sitting in Albany with an ILOVENY poster not even five feet away wondering what state ends in "Y".
Apr 21st, 2012 at 16:23 GMT
Relied heavily on the two-word states to get this one done.
Jun 7th, 2012 at 02:20 GMT
Can this quiz please allow state abbreviations as answers? I'm a lazy girlie who practically calls the sate she lives in NY.
Jun 9th, 2012 at 13:02 GMT
Minor thing: 'I' should have a '...' because of Wisconsin.
