| @tobley: I didn't trace along rivers, but the dashed lines of the border. At your source, it seems clear that the 205.1 miles listed for Michigan and Wisconsin's shared border is the land and river border. If you use a distance measuring tool (such as http://www.daftlogic.com/projects-google-maps-distance-calculator.htm), you can easily measure the state borders running through the Great Lakes, as those borders are all long, straight lines. Doing so gives me about 290 miles for Michigan and Wisconsin's shared border in Lake Michigan, and about 55 miles for Michigan and Wisconsin's shared border in Lake Superior. Add those three figure together (205.1 + 290 + 55) gives you 560.1 miles, which is close to my original estimate, but quite a bit lower than my 603 mile estimate. Either way, the Michigan-Wisconsin border is clearly top 20 in length. |
