PLEASE NOTE: England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland are individual guesses in this quiz; the UK as a whole is not. Also, I realize that this could turn into a "just start naming countries" quiz, but I thought the data was interesting, and thought others might, too. Please let me know if there are any ways I can improve it. Cheers.

Also, if a country is not listed (and there a couple), then that's just because the data was not available at the source.

@tobinw: the justice systems are different between northern ireland and scotland and england. only wales and england are the same in the justice

Tobinw, indeed this becomes yet another "name the countries of Europe" quiz. You should only include about 20 countries with the highest homicide rates and cut down the time to maybe four minutes. Alternatively, you could force people to enter the answers in order. BTW, I don't believe for a second the row of zeros for Andorra in Wikipedia is anything but vandalism.

Maybe you could let them be guessed in order? Otherwise it is really another "countries of Europe". Still interesting for the data themselves, but not enough for a game.

Azerbaijan can be in Europe it is borderline. Just like Kazakhstan can be Europe. Dont have Lithuania. I suggest you take out disputed ones and reduce it 20 maybe and decrease the time.

While I understand the geographical arguments, Sporcle generally considers Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan to be Asia. They all appear on the Countries of Asia Quiz, not the Countries of Europe Quiz. I agree with some others that the data is interesting, but might be better as if they had to be guessed in order.

Thanks for the suggestions, all. I've now made it only EU countries. Also, I've decreased the time to five minutes and made it to where you have to guess them in order.

Last I checked, Moldova doesn't belong to the EU...

Geographical details aside, it´s obvious to just about any european that there´s round about a dozen countries in your quiz that don´t even belong to the EU...EU stands for European union, it´s a political concept, not geographical, hence there being a few countries wich while being geographically part of europe are not a part of the EU

@danezinho - that was an oversight of mine from when I was correcting the quiz. It's been fixed now. Thanks.

Moldova and Andorra are not EU countries. @ConorONeill: Yes the justice systems are different across the UK, but that's also true of many other countries. It doesn't really make sense to have them separate on this quiz (or almost any other quiz on this site, except perhaps for the sport section).

If you're going to do EU countries, you should stick to the United Kingdom as a whole and not split them up. If you're going to list it in order, then you should include every EU country unless you note that it's only the top 20 or so in your question. Missing EU countries include Lithuania and Malta.

You can't just decide to split countries up because you feel like it. The quiz titles says countries so I expected the answers to actually be countries. People don't read comments until after doing a quiz so won't know that you've added a net three answers (removing the UK and adding England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales). What next - splitting Belgium into Flanders and Wallonia?

Quite frankly I am surprised that so many people commenting here do not know the difference between Europe and European Union. The quiz title is **EU Countries**

@lightup: The title and scope of the quiz were changed after the original release. Originally almost all countries of Europe were listed and they didn't have to be guessed in order.

i think u shud make United Kingdom an answer as we are in the EU areas that arent such as Isle of Man and Channel Islands are crown dependencies, not much different to Greenland but you wouldnt break down the areas that are. We are in the EU !

England wales etc. should not be on here considering they're not sovereign nations. If you have a quiz saying EU countries then it might be wise to only have places on there that are actually countries. And yes I know they are referred too as "countries of the United Kingdom". This is on historical grounds. Politically they have as much power as Rhode Island.

For the consistent countries of the UK, a joint calculation can be made also. Would be kinda time-consuming, but worth the effort.
