You should accept 'Curacao' for 'Netherlands Antilles'. It has more than 75% of that territory's population, and is by far the most widely known island.

Anyone else miss Gaza Strip because they only typed Gaza? (please don't accept just "Gaza" in the future, as the correct name does include the "Strip"

@ceiiinosssttu-i think that would be splitting hairs, or like accepting noumea for new caledonia or san juan for puerto rico

Oh right, the channel islands... Nice quiz. Mayotte's population surprised me a bit, because I hadn't noticed it on the map until a while ago.

Agree with the 1st comment about accepting Curacao as an alternative answer. It's not like San Juan or Noumea. Those are capital cities where Curacao is the main island of that chain.

Sorry ceiiinossssttuu and dtro, I disagree. Antigua and Barbuda, Trinidad and Tobago, Sao Tome and Principe are all island nations where one island is significantly bigger, but you still have to know the actual name. I see your point, but if you don't know that Curacao is part of the Netherlands Antilles I don't think you should get credit. Although, I have to say, I'm not quite sure why Aruba is its own territory when it's right next door, but that's a completely different matter.

And to continue, U.S. Virgin Islands have 108,000 people according to the 2000 census.

French Guiana is actually a part of France (along with Martinique, Guadalupe, and Reunion). As for Guam, it's not listed in the source site anywhere. As to why, I do not know.

Perhaps have Northern Marianas as an alternate answer?

Any idea why the CIA factbook doesn't list Guam? It should definitely be in this quiz.

@tjconn728: I agree you should know the actual name. The Dutch Caribbean islands actually consist of two "groups": Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao near the Venezolan coast, and Saba, St. Eustatius and (half of) St. Martin to the north. As to why Aruba is separate: originally, they were one unit with self-governance. The Arubans balked at that - indeed, they thought the Antilles government was dominated by Curacao - and so they were granted their own government, within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, a state which now consists of three countries: Netherlands (the European part), Aruba, and the Netherlands Antilles (the other 5 islands). Actually, there's quite some discussion at the moment as to their status, and it's quite likely that most of the islands end up as regular part(s) of the Netherlands.
