^Except that 38% of the answers are not from the Big East or the ACC. 5 of the 13 answers are South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Indiana, Texas Tech, and Iowa State. All of those schools have been playing football at the alleged highest level a lot longer than South Florida.
Also, as of January 1, it will have been 42 years since Ole Miss won a "major" bowl, 60 years since Kentucky won the 1952 Cotton Bowl and 72 years since Mississippi St. won its only "major" bowl, the 1941 Orange Bowl [against noted football power Georgetown]. That's 5 out of the 12 current schools in the SEC that have either never won a major bowl or haven't won one in 42 years or more. The point being, of course, that the consensus best conference in the land, the mighty SEC, is just as littered with patsies as the Big East and the ACC. |
