Nice quiz, but I'd get rid of Greenland as an answer. It's an island, so it doesn't really qualify as mainland.

Yes-nice concept. Also Closest mainland to Cuba is United States. It is about 120m from Cuba to Mexico (near Cancun) & 90-95 miles from Cuba to Key West, FL, which though an island is connected to the "mainland" by bridge so is part of the "mainland."

Right about Greenland, it is the largest island, but I guess it is an island nonetheless, however.. I excluded Key West, a man-made bridge doesn't qualify Key West as part of the mainland.

Like the idea. Please accept USA as well as US - I must have typed it too quickly (well, there is a first time for everything!) and it wouldn't accept USA.

Cuba is ALOT closer to US then Mexico. It's only about 80 miles to Key West. that is the closest point and i guess to the mainland of Florida about 100 miles

If somewhere was part of the mainland then I would suggest you wouldn't need a bridge to get there.

194 kilometers Cuba to Mexico mainland. ~210 kilometers to Florida mainland. I put it in there as a last but difficult question.

I think there's too much time, I'd hack off about a minute or so...

The UK is not correct, the UK includes Northern Ireland, therefore the closest is Ireland. The Island is Great Britain.

Kiribati--Ireland isn't on the mainland.

I count mainland as somewhere with more than one country, though can see that many people don't

That makes no sense... the island of Timor is mainland? St. Thomas? You can't make up your own definitions for words.

I like this quiz, but I would definitely cut down the time. I would also strongly suggest rephrasing the title/instructions (for example, 'the closest mainland country' rather than 'country of the closest mainland') so that it's clear what you're looking for and sounds like standard English.
