For what it is worth, Wikipedia lists Pittsburgh as the largest city on the Ohio followed by Cincinnati then Louisville.

Depends on your definition. If metro area is used, then that is correct, if 'city' is used then it is indeed Louisville.

Ho Chi Minh City isn't really on the Mekong - it's 20 miles up the coast from the nearest part of the delta.

Not sure how many people consider Dhaka to be on the Ganges. Might want to check a map.

This must be by actual city populations, for Louisville is not bigger than Cincinnati or Pittsburgh, and Minneapolis-St Paul and St Louis, and maybe New Orleans, are bigger than Memphis.

I always thought Fairbanks was on the Yukon. Guess not.

Fairbanks is on the Tanana River, which is the largest tributary of the Yukon.
