Good quiz but in my opinion Egypt, Kyrgyzstan, Cyprus and Myanmar should all be bonuses not actual answers.

If you can remembe back to grade school, vowels are aeiou and sometimes y. That's because y makes vowel sounds in words like C(igh)prus, Eg(ih)pt, M(igh)anmar, K(eh)rg(ih)stan. Vowels are sounds, not letters, we just use these letter to convey sounds- you know, like making words and such?

ah but it's not vowel sounds, it's just vowels. Panama for example, the a's make different sounds Pa/na (similar) and ma (mahhh) but that doesn't mean that they aren't all a's

I think this quiz has been done 3 times before and always with the "Y" argument. Clearly state that "Y" either does or doesn't count in your instructions.

@robotjenny: No, it has always and forever will be considered a hybrid, sometimes a vowel, sometimes a consonant.
