However, actual choices might be different with more info; is the 18 year old girl a useless lump, is the single mother tough as nails, is the 85 year old spry or feeble, etc. Basically, though, I'm taking the people who could actually help us all stay alive. View it as triage. A one-armed man isn't going to be able to hold on to the raft or swim if he falls out and a small child is at risk of falling or being swept overboard, and then other people will risk their lives to save them.
