Queen is hard rock? Seriously?

Queen invented some of the heaviest riffs known to mankind. However the radio has people remembering the tamer songs like "We are the Champions" and "Bohemian Rhapsody." However, Queen has laid down the thunder on many tunes throughout their influential career which has had a massive impact on the world of hard rock and heavy metal.

thesporacle is right. Everybody thinks of Queen as Bohemian Rhapsody and We Will Rock You. They have some really good riffs and they are definitely hard rock, in songs such as, Stone Cold Crazy.

It's refreshing to see a list where Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam outrank Nirvana for a change.

honestly I thought the idea of the quiz was good! but I disagree on the bands you have put on there! Must say nirvana are better and are bigger (had more hits) than pearl jam and I think Alice in Chains should have been further down the list and slipknot higher up the list thats all. But if you like all those bands you have great taste in music!

You know, ten years ago I would have agreed with you about grunge and nu metal; however nu metal is practically considered classic metal now. The first time I saw Slipknot at Ozzfest 99, I thought "wow this band is just another group of Ross Robinson produced nu metal posers." Next thing you know, fans are getting Slipknot tattooed on their skulls (a privilege that should only be reserved for Slayer). Nirvana is on the list because they influenced a ton of the newer (not nu) metal acts out there (unfortunately). Trust me, no one dislikes Nirvana more than me. On the other hand, have you ever seen a "greatest bands" list with Nirvana ranked last? Pearl Jam is still alive and kicking as one of the best rock shows around; they have not been a grunge band since 1991. Additionally, "Ten" outsold "Nevermind." AIC, Soundgarden, and STP also grew out of the Nirvana grunge shadow long ago.

Great list, a lot more inclusive than I thought it would be. Too be honest seems a little light on the heavy meal, doesn't have Primal Fear or Savatage, for example.

It's bad enough Journey is listed, but in the top half??? Even if you concede that Journey is hard rock, there's no way they are one of the best 100 of all time. I gotta check out this Gears of Rock source.

I could complain about the list very much, but this is only one: why on Earth is Slipknot higher than Queensÿche? Which one has made Operation:Mindcrime? Or Rage for Order? But I am extremely thankful that Ministry is in top 40. That band is beyond awesome.

I'm sorry, but in my opinion, this list is ****. It's got good ones at first, the whole list is filled with good ones, but they're not prioritizeing them right.

This is pretty bad. When I think of hard rock and metal, I do not think of Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Journey, Queen, Cream, Van Halen, Pearl Jam, or even Rush. While they are all great bands, they're all VERY tame compared to the later acts.

good quiz, but pretty crappy top 100. Had to scratch my head at a few of those, and a few that weren't included.
