I included all of the major cities in each MSA so that if someone guesses, say, San Jose then San Francisco will also appear. For consistency, I even did so with the smaller cities listed by the Census Bureau.

I understand you got this from a souce so I'm not blaming you but I am from colorado and I would like you to look at a map of Colorado and tell me that greeley is part of Denver, because it is very much not even close to Denver. It weird it's liked to denver and boulder as a merto...

Yeah, the Census Bureau takes into account things like how many people commute from one county to another (and they include entire counties in MSAs outside of New England - where they include individual cities and towns). So they don't always seem to make sense, but there's statistical logic behind it.

Yes, Vegas does have a substantial Mormon population. They actually were a really big part of the population early in it's history because they were good at living in desert wastelands. Now some work in casinos, even though it's against the religion to gamble.

This was very interesting. In some ways it was Western metros, though I don't think I ever would have thought of Pocatello.
