	Great quiz, I was shocked to see China over Yemen, Nigeria, etc. Also, it's interesting to see the source and note that Asia overall seems to have bad records. India, the Philippines, Bangladesh, and big non-Asian economies like Mexico and Russia also have terrible records. Maybe it's because the source includes things like labor rights and protection, which conventional indices ignore. Five g's!

	This source is unsatisfactory because it runs together two different types of situation, one where the country is basically in chaos eg DRC and Somalia and the state cannot protect citizens from people who have more guns; and places which are very ordered like North Korea and China where the state is oppressive but people are safe if they conform. In the former you have human rights, you just can't rely on anyone enforcing them.

	To be fairly honest, I think this may not be very independent. Israel should rank high with all the Palestinians, who are thrown on the street to let Israelis move in because it was 'Their land'. Not in the top ten, but more than Medium.

	I was REALLY surprised Iran or Saudi Arabia were not on the list.. death sentence for homosexuality, public executions, gender segregation, forced veiling of women, ....i could go on

	@Roman: from the source: "The Human Rights Risk Atlas 2011... evaluates 196 countries on their performance across 30 human rights categories, which cover human security, labour standards and protection, civil and political rights and access to remedy" in an attempt to calculate "the risk of complicity in human rights abuses for companies operating worldwide."

	The source doesn't give a comparative score for each country so it's hard to say how much better or worse one country did over another in the same category. All you can really see is that Northwestern Europe and Portugal, Canada, Uruguay, Australia, New Zealand and (surprisingly) South Korea are at the lowest risk for rights abuse

	@Roman: I don't know what all 30 of the categories are in the Human Rights Risk Atlas, but they say it covers labor standards and protection which sound like economic rights to me. I must say I'm a little unclear what social and cultural rights might be beyond those covered under civil and political protections. If the political and civil rights are sufficiently strong, I'm not exactly sure what might be missing in the way of social and cultural rights. If you're interested I think it may be possible for you to gain (temporary) free access to the report by registering at the site.

	@Riko: the way I understand the source is that this is a publication put together by business consultants that seeks to analyze the human rights situation in a particular country with a view toward advising their clients about how much risk the client would incur if they were to do business in a particular country. That is, if a company does business in a particular country how likely is it that the company will be made complicit in human rights abuses simply by doing business in that country and thereby risk embarrassment, damage to their reputation, etc.

	Civil and Political Rights examples freedom of speech, assembly, religion, no torture ESC examples are right to work, social security, insurance, decent standard of living. And yes, Saudi Arabia is terrible by both regards

	I see that Israel, a country waging a colonial genocide against the Palestinians is absent. As is the United States, the country that is currently indiscriminately bombing two of these countries while randomly burning down villages and not caring about civilian casualties at all. Meanwhile Somalia is number two because it is important to be critical of a government that doesn't even exist.
