Sorry, thats not the name of the university. SLU is named after the Saint, "Saint Louis", and not the city, "St. Louis".

Then why exactly do you accept "Pitt" for the University of Pittsburgh? The name of the university is Pittsburgh, not Pitt.

Because, St. Louis is the city, not the saint. the sain's nickname isn't St. Louis, Pitt is the nickname of Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh actually uses the Pitt abbreviation. Saint Louis University never uses the abbreviated "St." on anything.

The university of Pittsburgh uses the moniker "Pitt" all the time. Saint Louis University goes by the moniker "SLU" far more often than "St Louis", and if I accepted "SLU" this wouldn't be much of a quiz at all because it says it on that logo.
