The Channel Islands were not a 'country' in their own right in 1940, so don't count in this quiz. Italy was not occupied by the 'Nazis' inasmuch as the Fascist Italians under Mussolini controlled Italy. Even when Italy was invaded by the Allies and Musso surrendered, the Nazi forces (i.e. the Wehrmacht) did not control ALL of Italy, so she cannot count. Likewise, the Nazis never 'occupied' the USSR as a whole, so she cannot count. Also, you cannot equate 'control' with 'occupation'; would anyone argue that Germany was 'occupied' by the Nazis (which implies some kind of force)? |
