What's is the definition of satisfaction you used? Because these certainly are not the world's happiest countries... They may be the richest and most developed, but not the happiest.

From living in a northeastern european calvinist region, there is no way Norway could possibly be on this list: half the country is in darkness for 3 months of the year, it rains most of the summer and they're calvinists!

It seems I was wrong about Norway, somehow it is also in the top ten of all other indexes! I guess the living standard must offset the climate a huge amount.

Norwegians are not (for the most part) Calvinists, but Lutherans.

Unfortunately, not everyone in these countries is so happy. Finland and Belgium both have fairly high suicide rates.
