I was in Schoolhouse Rock! Live a few years ago. Just could not remember one word. I also did 1776 last year and read the DoI preamble every night...so bring it on!

I got nine straight blanks following "a". I managed to get the first 3 up to the comma and after that had nothing to go on. =(

Has anybody ever bothered to find out why Schoolhouse Rock left out "of the United States of America"? It does seem rather significant. I remember listening to a group of high school student proudly recite the Preamble, and then telling them they were wrong because of the omission. Oh, well. . . "I'm just a bill . . . sitting here on Capitol Hill . . ."

'insure domestic tranquility' I only got 3, all being parts of the names of the USA (I'm not American!) but is 'insure' a typo in the quiz, or were the writers of this idiots? It should be 'ensure'.

Insure is indeed a perfectly acceptable synonym for ensure. It means guarantee (hence the derivation insurance). I suppose ensure is more commonly used now, but there's no question the quiz (and the framers) were correct.

I stayed up all night learning this with Schoolhouse rock for my government class, got to class the next day, and completely fumbled it up. Completely. Ah, now the embarrassment still won't let me forget it.

Schoolhouse Rock FTW! And Bray, yes, it's "insure" in the original. This is a 220-year-old document, remember.

Got em all. I needed the help of my Dad, sister, and schoolhouse rock. I thought it was ensure domestic tranquility, and with 5 seconds left my sister told me to try spelling it with an I "just for kicks" and it was right!

@ emily grant "Insure" is indeed a verb, otherwise it would be incorrect English to say "My house is insured."

i learned this in elementary school... there was no schoolhouse rock then. :) i remember having to recite this as a class for our principal, who was beaming. i was so proud of myself! i think we were in fourth grade. we also had to memorize the Gettysburg Address. that was tough but we did it! i still remember that one too.
