It's fun if you know the pattern, but otherwise...

Oh good, another game that is intentionally horrible to try to up its own play count. Pattern games are only good if you give more than the starting point, maybe the first 3 in the sequence.

This is actually a pretty well-known integer sequence that has been cited in a number of articles. The OEIS actually gives it a "nice" classification, which is not something many sequences in the database get labeled as (see http://www.research.att.com/~njas/sequences/A005150). So if the directions were clearer, this might actually be a good quiz.

I agree that the current issue with this quiz is that it isn't clear what you are supposed to do... I think thia might be helped a bit if the first question was 'what do you have if you have one 1 (note the extra word) and forget 'type one to begin' as the first question. You could then also shorten the time (2 minutes is plenty) and make it clear in the description that the aim is to find a pattern.

you need to take people out past 21 before they can see what is going on. I tried 3 times with no clue, before I finally looked at a website that described it. Once you get what is going on its pretty simple. Its just your description leaves a lot to be desired.

Once I read the article on the website, the quiz was easy, which made it boring.

Another difficulty is that the fifth answer, following 1211, is ambiguous. It could be 111221 as given, or it could be 1231 (one 2, three 1s), continuing 131221, 132231, 232221, 134211, 14131231, etc.

i think the obnoxious "clues" are what piss me off. The quiz itself is cool - I bet if you made it a little more serious/professional you'd have noticeably better ratings

I suggest renaming it "Look and Say" Sequence and take the clues off. The title becomes a clue and makes it possible to figure out. As it is, you've given too much of the answers and unless you know the sequence, those "clues" are of no help. You might also want to increase the number of answers because once you know what you're doing, it's too short to be fun.

haha Make it more serious or professional? I guess I missed the part in the 'Making Sporcle Quizzes for Beginners' handbook that said we had to maintain a professional atmosphere here. It's a game, man. Who are you people?

I actually quite enjoyed this quiz but really didn't get what to do at first. Mind you, I didn't read the description - just jumped in.

Lyn_Marie, I imagined the quiz with your title and got it, no problem! Like others have said, I think most people just need a little more to go from. Other than that it's a fun quiz.
