	i don't know anyone that uses tonic anymore for soda, though i'm aware that it used to be frequently used. also dunjareens? dungarees, maybe. hoodsie is also questionable. i'm not sure i've ever heard anyone use the term when not referring specifically to a hoodsie cup. you'd never go into an ice cream store and order a hoodsie.

	Thanks simo, I changed dunjareens. Hoodsie is on there because the small cups of ice cream bought at a store are generally called Hoodsie Cups. Other parts of the country don't use hoodsie cup when talking about store bought ice cream cups. And tonic is on of my favorites :) I hope it doesn't die.

	I still here tonic among the older folks in my family. My dad remembers moving to Philly and asking for a Hoodsie at the store--of course, no one knew what he was talking about. Frappe and jimmies are the still the ones I hear all the time at home that don't get used anywhere else. We do say "bubbler" here in the upper midwest, as well. Never heard "take a digga" before.

	I live here and no one I know says tonic. Haven't heard take a digga, packie, directions, or clicker either, and we say elastics, not elastic bands. Have also lived in other places where we said cellar, dungarees, and rotary too.

	@montylaw: you must live on the South Shore where the true Boston accent and lingo isn't as prevalent. Here on the North Shore these are all everyday terms, especially packie, directionals, and clicker. I'd say this quiz is incredibly accurate with the exception of grinder. I have always heard sub in and around Boston. As for jimmies, I once ordered them on an ice cream in South Carolina. Little did I know that elsewhere it is a derogatory term for black people. And my server happened to be a young black man. Needless to say, I never got that ice cream.

	Problem is, a lot of these are very local even within Massachusetts. I've lived in Boston and on the South Shore for fifty years and I've never ordered a grinder and the only Hoodsie I ever ate was made by Hood's. The one real flub here is "The Hub." That one is strictly for tourists, along with Beantown.

	"Grinder" is something I've heard in Connecticut and upstate NY; it was always "sub" on the North Shore while I was growing up. "Tonic" is something my grandparents said, and the round, short-"o" sound with which it's pronounced is the number-one thing actors get wrong when they try to do Boston accents. Matt Damon and the Afflecks (Ben and Casey) are the only major stars I know who really nail it.

	I live in Boston, I've never heard of many of these words. Although I've always viewed frappes and milkshakes to be two different things. Same with a water fountain and bubbler.

	I grew up in Boston. A lot of these are familiar to me -- wicked, rotary, clicker, jimmies -- but I've never heard anyone call turn signals "directionals." And like JimAkin, I've heard "grinder" more in CT than MA. Is cellar really a Massachusetts-specific thing? I thought everyone said that.

	I would say all but two I have heard consitantly in everyday conversation (born, grown, and raised in Boston). Those two would be chowdahead (I think more western MA) and Grinder (more CT or NY). I also think regular coffee would make it on the list, and I would vote for "dunkies" (refering to Dunkin Donuts).

	I got 15 out of 19 just because I'm from Connecticut. It doesn't seem too fitting calling these Massachusetts lingo if a guy can guess them having grown up far from the border and spent almost no time in Massachusetts.

	I'm not sure these are all completely accurate. I have never heard soda referred to as tonic. Some may just be from more specific places in MA, but some are also possibly out dated, ex: dungarees. Thanks for the quiz, though!

	(coming from the north shore in Newburyport): 1) a frappe is not a milkshake. frappes have ice cream in them-milkshakes do not. 2)a hoodsie is a specific type of ice cream cup made by...Hood. 3) having gone to college in CT, i heard grinder down there but not up here. 4) jimmies are different from sprinkles in that sprinkles are rainbow colored. jimmies are black. 5) in regards to above commenters, we use packies, directionals, clicker, Dunks (not dunkies-thats gay). 6) regular coffee would be a good add as would U-ee (not even sure how to spell that one)

	Good quiz! I think shopping "trolley" is a little more regional, but carriage works too. And @BostonPatriots...you're right about the difference between frappe and milkshake for New England, but everywhere else it's just a milkshake. No one really drinks coffee milk or other milk and flavor beverages.

	jimmies are specifically chocolate sprinkles to be precise but im just splitting hairs. and some of these are archaic like dungarees. almost nobody other than old folks and people in the ghetto like roxbury say that. and we for the most part say blinkers here too.

	I'm from Western MA, and a lot of these things don't apply. Some do, like frappe (we also say milkshake), shopping carriage (though we also say cart as well), and rotary (which is actually written on official signs), but a lot of the other things are more Eastern MA. We say soda instead of tonic, jeans instead of dungarees, and remote instead of clicker. Though, we definitely say "Jimmies", and hoodsies I've only heard when it's an ice cream cup by Hood (like the chocolate/vanilla combo), because I think that IS their name (though I could be wrong). Not bad for a quiz.

	I'd accept three-story house (with or without hyphen) for triple-decker, and capris or "short pants" for clam diggers. I couldn't get either of those only because I couldn't figure out how the answer was worded. I don't think I've ever heard anyone actually say chowdahead, dungarees, or tonic, although I know what they are. Growing up though we sure did say jimmies, and packie. "Bang a U-ey" (or however you'd spell it) could be on here although it might have a pretty obvious meaning with the clues. On another note: Does anyone else think "so isn't" or "so doesn't" is a Massachusetts thing? A Central Mass thing maybe? Means the same as "so is" or "so does". "I'm going to the store and so isn't Mary" means that Mary is also going. I didn't even realize I said it until I got to college.

	what's a directional? when did they add them to cars? dont you think liquor should work for Packie as it already says "store" as part of the clue and ice cream should also work besides ice cream cup you spell bublah wrong too. Other than that wicked Pissah.
