Sudan was *not* independent before World War II - it was a joint British-Egyptian condominium. South Africa and Egypt were.

thanks! Then there are only 2 countries! I've missunderstood my source! Sudan was independant until 1899 and after 1956 but not prior to WWI!

No, there are not only 2 countries. As johnlk points out, South Africa and Egypt were independent.

Prior to WWI = Before 1914. Egypt declared is independence from the United Kingdom on February 28th 1922. The Statute of Westminster was established in 1931 and applied to six dominions including the Union of South Africa. In conclusion, the two countries were not independent prior to WW1.
