This uses a very strange definition of 'Great Lakes' cities, considering some are in states that don't touch the lakes (never mind the cities), and some cities that are in states that border the lakes aren't included. You should perhaps explain a little more about the concept.

I live on a Great Lake, My Brother in-law lives in Kansas City. He is nowhere even NEAR a Great Lake, hell, his state does not touch a Great lake nor does his river drain into a Great lake, HOW can you have Kansas City, St Louis, Louisville in this group? You can make some POSSIBLE arguments for Cincinnati or Ottawa or Montreal (I would in fact argue they also do not belong) but your term "Great lakes" either you have no idea where they are and what they constitute or ...no, you really do have no clue!

The minute I saw Kentucky and Missouri on the list, I knew something was terribly wrong.

Interesting to see that the USA apparently intend to annex Quebec by 2025.

The quiz creator didn't state that these cities resided on the Great Lakes, only that they were part of the the "Great Lakes Megapolis", which is a term give to the megapolis centered around the Great Lakes (a megapolis is formed by roughly adjacent metro areas). Minneapolis, Kansas City, and St. Louis to some extent are often considered outliers to the Great Lakes Megapolis, whereas Chicago, Detroit, Indianapolis, Cleveland, Toronto, Pittsburgh, etc. are more interconnected.

Yeah, I fail to see how Missouri or Kentucky, or cities like Minneapolis or Cincinnati, are 'Great Lakes cities'. Are you assuming that there will be some kind of rise in the water levels of the Great Lakes so that they reach Missouri?

Well, technically Great Lakes water reaches Missouri since the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal takes Lake Michigan water through the backwards-flowing Chicago River, down the Illinois River into the Mississippi just above St. Louis. But on a more serious note, this quiz is more about the chain of metro areas and not a strict geographical notion of Great Lakes cities. Personally, I'd rather call these cities the Midwestern Web or something to that effect.

This is NOT my opinion. This is a technical and OFFICIAL TERM and these are the cities that are listed in ALL the articles that deal with the "Great Lakes Megapolis". If you would follow the links, you would note that this is based on studies conducted by business interests, university studies, and census statistics, there is no opinion involved here.

Boom and Dralc thank you for attempting to clarify that this has nothing to with cities that lie directly on the Great Lakes. This is about a string of Metropolises that are considered the Great Lakes Megapolis or Midwestern Web or whatever you want to say. I only used the term, because that is the official term used by statisticians and scientists.

Possibly a better term would be "Midwestern US Cities"?

Since you linked to the source explaining the concept, it would be great if people read that before complaining. Still, I think a sentence like "This includes cities in the designated Great Lakes Megapolis area, they do not actually have to border one of the great lakes" could help clear up that confusion.

Probably don't need 8 minutes, especially since 4 answers are right in the quiz description.

I find it unacceptable that Kansas City is included but not Mexico City or Rio De Janeiro. Clearly, they should be grouped into the Great Lakes region based on the original researcher's highly unique and complex "Head Up My Own Ass" system.

There's a typo that needs to be fixed: Quebec is in Canada. Oh, and btw, the Megalopolises, in every source I've seen, are not defined across country borders. The Great Lakes Megalopolis does NOT extend into Canada by any definition I've ever seen.

@tallonator I've never seen the Wikipedia image on there before, and I've looked at that page before. I've looked at other sources, and I have not seen your claims to St. Louis and Kansas City being in the Great Lakes Megalopolis substantiated. Sorry, but this quiz is inaccurate. Besides, a megalopolis has to be continuous. Kansas City is not connected to the rest of the Great Lakes Megalopolis. And the Megalopolises are not actually defined by the government, so their boundaries are subject to debate. Thus this quiz is not technically accurate.

The Great Lakes Megalopolis consists of the group of North American metropolitan areas which surround the Great Lakes region mainly within the Midwestern United States, the Southern Ontario area of Canada, along with large parts of Pennsylvania, New York, and Quebec. The region extends from the Milwaukee–Chicago corridor to the Detroit–Toronto corridor, and includes Buffalo, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Erie, Grand Rapids, Indianapolis, Louisville, Ottawa, Quad Cities, Rochester, and Toledo, reaching as far as Pittsburgh and Kansas City. The region had an estimated population of 59,144,461 is projected to reach about 65 million by 2025. As of 2012, the largest city is Chicago while the fastest growing city is Toronto.[1][2]
