	@joebobs: you're right. I've added Singapore as a bonus answer for Malaysia. For the sake of consistency I'll go back and add the same kind of bonuses for France, United Kingdom, and Sweden in http://www.sporcle.com/games/tahitiwahini/bordering_medium_countries_1 Can you think of any other members of the bridge and tunnel crowd deserving a bonus border?

	Well, there's Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, but they're too small/big for these quizzes. I think that's it (there's a quiz on manmade borders somewhere, I'll try and find it and report back!).

	Well, I can't find any more - the quiz only mentioned them. Been looking elsewhere and found some very interesting proposed ones, Bering Strait Crossing (Russia-USA), Strait of Sicily Tunnel (Italy-Tunisia), Saudi Egypt Causeway, Bridge of the Horns (Djibouti-Yemen), Sakhalin-Hokkaido Tunnel (Russia-Japan), Gibraltar Bridge (Spain-Morocco - which will be a floating bridge). Some interesting projects! But until any are complete, it's just those 4.

	I will continue to type Kyrgyzstan first on all of these quizzes without even looking at the hints until it is finally an answer.

	@MisterF: and that day is coming soon! There will be at least two more quizzes, maybe three. Kyrgyzstan will be a real answer in one of them. As you may have noticed Kyrgyzstan is always a bonus answer in my country quizzes (unless it's actually a real answer). It's my little joke. I won't be able to cover all the medium-sized countries in my quiz series, but I'll get most of them. I don't like to have an answer appear more than once in these quizzes and as you might imagine that makes the seating arrangements a bit tricky. What that means of course is that no two countries in the same quiz can border the same country. Europe is a real rat's nest in that regard; there's a lot of bordering going on there.

	@joebobs: Thanks for doing the bridge and tunnel research! As you said the only one that I'll miss is Bahrain-Saudi Arabia since they're either too big or too small for a medium-sized quiz. We'll just have to wait to see which of the proposed projects actually come to fruition.

	Starting February 1st, 2011, the complete Border Country Marathon will go live. The series includes every country in the world that shares a border with at least one other country. That's 155 countries; from Russia to Vatican City. Each of the sixteen quizzes contains an average of 12 subject countries, 52 bordering countries, and a time limit of 5 minutes. Simply click on the NEXT LEG link in the source section to go to the next quiz in the marathon.

	**** Announcing MULTI-WORD ABBREVIATIONS **** For multi-word country names I am accepting abbreviations consisting of the first letter of each word in the English name of the country. There are three exceptions to this rule: Czech Republic, Saudi Arabia, and Sierra Leone. For these countries the first word of the name will be accepted; namely, Czech, Saudi, and Sierra.

REVISED Multi-Word Abbreviations: the rules for the multi-word abbreviations are very simple: use the first letter of each word in the common Sporcle name of the country to compose the acronym. Omit insignificant words: "and", "of", and "the". There are ten exceptions to this rule: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, El Salvaldor, Marshall Islands, Saudi Arabia, Solomon Islands, Sierra Leone, and Sri Lanka. For these exceptions the abbreviation is merely the first word of the multi-word country name: Bosnia, Costa, Czech, Dominican, El, Marshall, Saudi, Solomon, Sierra, and Sri. These exceptions were necessary in order to eliminate conflicts with other abbreviations. I was unable to come up with an acceptable abbreviation for South Africa and St Lucia. If you want to tackle an even bigger challenge check out the Border Country Biathlon which is similar to the marathon except that both bordering countries and bodies of water are included. I was able to structure the biathlon such that there are no repeats of subject countries in the whole quiz series, something I was not able to achieve in the marathon.
