| There are somewhat interesting ideas in this field, but as a subject gender studies, especially with the silly, frivolous terms that these ditzy academics coin, has a tendency to be ridiculous (and certainly won't get you a job when you tell a potential employer that you were doing gender studies at university). I mean, seriously, 'pomosexual'. As if we didn't have enough nonsense terms. Also, I'd say that transsexuality is not included here because transsexuality is not a sexual orientation, whereas the rest of these are sexual orientations (however a preference for transsexual or transgender people could be a sexual orientation - note that the difference between sex and gender is that the former is what the person's biological, genetic sex is, XY or XX discounting chromosomal abnormalities, and the latter is the identity of masculinity, femininity, or somewhere inbetween that the person identifies with). Theoretically, autosexuality could also be included as a hypothetical sexual orientation. |
