Could you please stipulate that this list is from 1985? No offense to the Catamounts, but UVM ain't what it used to be. And it's pretty shameful that the guy who came up with this list omitted UVA, Wisconsin, Washington...

What an utterly odd list. One would think that Virginia, Wisconsin, Washington, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio State, Penn State, Maryland, Delaware, Connecticut, Georgia, Florida, Michigan State, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and a number of others are all better than Vermont.

I don't know about the others that have been "left out"(delaware, uconn, florida, ohio state? not competitive schools), but I do agree that its odd not seeing virginia on the list, since the public top five are consistently virginia, north carolina, ucla, berkeley and michigan
