| it was a tough call putting musial in front of williams, but i did so on purpose. in addition to team accomplishments, musial hit over .300 16 seasons in a row, won 1 more mvp award than williams, and has a better WAR. you can't really go wrong either way. each of these guys was an all-star in every full year they played, deservedly so. williams is clearly one of the greatest hitters of all time. had he not lost 2 extra seasons in the war, his numbers would be even more phenomenal and there would be no argument. if i valued home runs more and defense and longevity less(not that musial was the greatest fielder, just that williams was poor defensively), i'd have them flip-flopped |
