Very good quiz! A few format suggestions, though. Usually Oscars are dated by the year before the award ceremony (when most of the nominated films are released). And when alphabetizing (re your 2010 column), ignore "a", "the", and "an".

I had pulled the order directly off IMDB, but I agree and switched the order. As for dates, it is technically the 2011 Academy Awards. The movies are from 2010, but the award show is considered 2011: http://www.imdb.com/event/ev0000003/2011 At the top you can see "Awards for 2011:"

I get what you're saying. It's just usually done the other way on Sporcle (see published Oscar-related games).

zutluvip is right, on Sporcle, it's mostly done a year before.

Minor nitpick: SoFia, not SoPHia. Also agree with the year before comments...

I think there's a film/ director missing. Mike Leigh for Vera Drake?? Otherwise great quiz

@bells87 - Vera Drake wasn't nominated for Best Picture; Leigh was nominated for Best Director, but that's not what this quiz is asking

I really love this quiz, PLEASE tell me you're thinking of making a sequel for the 90s.

It's always interesting to note a year when different films won Best Picture and Best Director. Sometimes it makes sense, such as for 2000 when Soderbergh won because he had two films nominated for Best Picture. However, usually there's no obvious reason and it's usually just a difference of opinion between the voters for Best Director and Best Picture.

Small detail: González Iñarritu is the whole last name, not Iñarritu (same case as with, say, Maurice Jones Drew). Also, it would be nice if it accepted Iñarritu as well as Inarritu, but I guess I'm asking for too much.

Awesome quiz! I know certain Oscar stuff, but this stumped me in places, as I've rarely thought about those directors whose pictures get nominated but their directorial work doesn't.
