	This is amazing! I love the way it requires integrating multiple clues, plus serious knowledge of the elements. I especially loved the "aha" when I finally got C3 after thinking there had to be a mistake.

	Thank you for the comments, everyone, and I'm glad that people are enjoying the quiz. If anyone gets stuck at a particular step and needs a hint to continue, there's a step-by-step solution hyperlinked above. @Nroman: You're right that diamond has a higher melting point, while all other forms of carbon are lower than the intended element; still, that's a good point, so I've changed that clue. Thanks for your comment. As a side note, that part of the clue is technically superfluous because of the clues in A5, B5, and C2 and the fact that B5, D1, and E5 have already been placed, but I deliberately put in some redundancies to allow multiple routes to the solution.

	Wow, brain-busting but very fun. I'll admit I had to break out the periodic table a couple times. Very nicely constructed.

	I'm still on the fence on whether this is more of a logic puzzle or a trivia puzzle, but either way it's difficult, I'm learning new things (the capital cities one stumped me for a long time), and I'm enjoying it.

	@Fergenaprido a lot of logic puzzles on this site with a certain subject requiring knowledge are also "trivia puzzles", the trivia is just the icing on the cake. I did also have to look up a lot of things. Though I don't really consider that cheating, since it doesn't take away from doing your own logical reasoning. Anyway, great quiz, loved the last few clues for fun, and the "but you should already know that" tongue-in-cheek reference to people who just try to fill every space with a clue even if useless.

	I'm delighted by the comments about this being a mix of trivia and logical reasoning because that's exactly what I was trying to do. I agree with @Zak6009 that looking things up isn't cheating, and it's great to hear that people are learning new things in addition to having fun, so thank you for the comments. @boo1234, it will be a couple more steps before you can place silver and gold, but you should be able to place the third element right away.

	Handicapped by no scientific knowledge whatsoever :-) I still had a go. Unfortunately I strayed off the track because I thought that "the element whose name is from the Greek for ‘hidden’" was lanthanum (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_elements), and I looked no further. So I got bogged down after that.

	@Triffid - While that's true, you should have already placed lanthanum as part of E2's clue about reversing chemical symbols, and no element can appear more than once

	One other note... about B1's clue. At the stage of the puzzle in which B1 was unlocked, we had yet to know for sure whether Bromine OR Meitnerium were even in the puzzle, so I was confused as to whether or not we are meant to infer from that clue that they are. Simply saying that one "is not adjacent" to the other, although it heavily implies it, it does not directly confirm they are on the quiz. If neither are on the quiz (or if one isn't), then it would still be right to say they are not adjacent! I was just curious whether we were actually supposed to infer they were there from that clue, or just put it aside until later. Luckily, even ignoring that clue, the presence of those two is confirmed by subsequent clue. Still curious what your intentions were.

	@Triffid, hats off to you for trying it despite not being a science buff. Krypton must be in row 2, so the clue in C1 still ensures its proper placement, regardless of lanthanum; but I see why you might have dismissed C1 as a superfluous clue, so I've tweaked the wording. @Lindsay makes a good point on that as well. @Zak6009, I didn't want or expect players to assume those elements' inclusion based on the clue in B1, because that would be a fallacy, as you correctly note; that clue just isn't exploited until a few steps later. The inclusion of bromine is revealed by D1 (which, in one possible solving order, is revealed before B1), and the inclusion of meitnerium is revealed by C5 (in conjunction with B5), very soon after B1. There are several possible solving orders, though I documented only the one that seemed the clearest to explain.
