If you read the info blurb at the top of the quiz, you would know that this quiz is about the 7th oldest bowl game, originally called the Tangerine Bowl. For the longest time, the people that started bowl games felt that because of the weather in December/January in Florida, it would be a neat thing for every big city in the state to have a bowl game. So to follow in the footsteps of the Orange Bowl, we were inundated with a fruit salad of bowl games! The Lemon Bowl, Lime Bowl, Grapefruit Bowl, Tangerine Bowl, Citrus Bowl, etc. The problem was that during this time there was pretty much no television coverage and poor attendance, so most of them folded. The Tangerine's big draw was that all of the proceeds went to charity. It managed to survive when they were able to get the Florida Gators to come play, after they had been snubbed by the major bowls of that era.
