	Decent quiz, but Gambit's first appearance was in Uncanny X-Men #266, and not Annual #14. I obviously missed that one. lol

	Good quiz. As pointed out above, Gambit CAMEOED in Uncanny Annual 14, like Wolverine CAMEOED in Wolverine 180. Uncanny 266 is accepted as Gambit's first, like Hulk 181 is accepted for Wolverine. I also agree that Shazam should be accepted for Captain Marvel....and maybe Steel for John Henry Irons...

	The Gambit one was added after the fact by the Sporcle editors - I've sent them an e-mail noting that it's not the generally accepted answer. @Jeremy I fought out the Shazam issue with Sporcle way back on their Superhero Secret Identities one, and they were unyielding - Shazam refers to the Wizard Shazam, and is the magic word said, but the character is Captain Marvel - his book is only called Shazam for trademark reasons. @MovieDynamic Plastic Man is a bit of a weird character - not one of the most popular DC characters sales-wise, but such a weird character that he's loved by a lot of creators, and keeps getting put onto the Justice League on those grounds. I haven't looked at results yet, but I expected him to be the least-got answer.

	@imemine98 galactus isn't superhero, so he's eliminated by the title of the quiz. @beatrixkiddo plastic man is one of the strangest superheroes dc ever published. his creator, jack cole, is considered something of a "cartoonist's cartoonist" and his work, although not read by many, is often cited as a profound influence by a wide variety of creators. he also ghosted on the spirit while eisner was working at the pentagon.

	@MovieDynamic: Plastic Man is actually considered one of the most potentially powerful DC heroes. In fact he was called in to take down an out of control Martian Manhunter (who is himself basically Superman + telepathy and shapeshifting)

	@John2 Steel was created as part of the whole Return of Superman event which followed the Death of Superman. It was a whole storyline that involved 4 Supermen.

	Phil thanks great feedback, I agree with you and disagree with the powers that be...sorry but if the comics are called Shazam and was the TV Series and the action figures I had as a kid said Shazam, regardless of copyright or other reasons it is a perfectly acceptable name. i run weekly pub quizzes and I did a handout where people had to name the comic book characters from pictures i had Captain Marvel on there and accepted either. I knew the answer either way,but I think both should be acceptable..is Jonn Jonzz taken or j'onn j'onzz??? I may have to take the quiz again just to find out. And is just Steel acceptable or can you use man of tomorrow/cyborg superman the kryptonite kid/super boy and the last son of krypton too? Although I guess only the kryptonite kid turned into a hero and he took over the mantle of superboy who had already existed

	@Jeremy Well, I'm torn on it - to me, they have a point that the character is called Captain Marvel. Shazam is a completely different character (the wizard). It's no more correct than a common misspelling is. I'd probably accept it in a pub quiz, but I'd also not take off for spelling on a pub quiz. Sporcle tends towards insisting on proper titles. As it stands, J'onn J'onzz is not accepted, nor are any secret identities beyond Steel's, which is accepted only because the character has gone without a nickname in his history.

	man of tomorrow/Cyborg was more of a villan then a hero and Superboy has been around since 1945. Granted this is a the first appearance of this version but there has been a character by the name of Superboy before.

	i don't understand the shazam/captain marvel dispute. the superhero is named captain marvel. the wizard is named shazam. the comic is called "shazam," but that's like claiming you should be able to substitute "action comics" when asked for "superman." the fact that many people refer to captain marvel as shazam is a common mistake. that doesn't make a correct answer. it's just an unsurprising one.

	Even leaving aside that the character is called "Captain Marvel" and not Shazam, the equating of the two (because of Marvel's copyright) happened many years after his debut. And even within issues of "Shazam" or on the TV series, the character was Captain Marvel.

	@Ganondorfdude11 - He's not for two reasons. First, asking who debuted in Flash Comics #1 is a bit easy. Second, Hawkman, another well-known hero, debuted in that issue as well, so it would be an ambiguous answer.
