You've probably heard of all the artists here. But, do you know which ones actually had at least one Top 40 hit single in the U.S.? Answer 'Y' if they did, 'N' if not.
Yes, all of these artists have had huge hits *somewhere*. That's because Billboard has so many damn charts that everyone on earth, including you, has had a hit on at least one of them at some point. For the purposes of this quiz, however, songs had to peak at #40 or higher on the one and only, accept-no-substitutes, BILLBOARD HOT 100. No other chart matters, including the Top 100 Airplay, Top 100 Downloads, Top 100 Country, Top 100 Dance, Top 100 Heatseekers, Top 100 Ringtones, Top 100 Urban Polka, Top 100 This, Top 100 That, Top 100 The Other Thing, etc.

	Cake's "The Distance" never appeared on the Hot 100. It was an airplay only hit and may be "retro-accepted" as a Top 40 hit based on Billboard changing its charting criteria in December 1998, but still incorrect by the definition you listed. Same with "All Mixed Up" and "Down by 311, all 3 of Soundgarden's songs. And They Might Be Giants, NWA and Iron Maiden never had a single Hot 100 single. 99.7% sure of that.
