Statistics show countries where people are born - even former countries. Example: both Russia, Soviet and Estonia could appear. Typing 'Russia' or 'Soviet' would get you Soviet, but not Estonia.

Yugoslavia is no longer a country. This may be Serbia, but you should confirm.

So I type in Serbia and get Yugoslavia, but I have to type in Bosnia and Herzegovina to get that one?

Yeah, that through me off. Should standardise that.

The statistics show which countries people are born in, and people are born in countries that no longer exists, I think that's obvious. So if you guess a current country the older country it was once part of will show up as well. If you for example guess Bosnia and Herzegovina, both Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Yugoslavia will show up.

During the Pinochet era a lot of Chileans ended up here. Why here is a fair question. It's on the other side of the world and they're not that common (that I know of) in other European countries. But for some reason Chile is sometimes described as "Sweden of South America". But I really don't know.

And I will NOT ignore 70'000 Yugoslavians just because a country doesn't exist anymore. Deal with the world as it is outside your narrow-minded Sporcle-fixated brains. People are born in Yugoslavia. And people are born in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
