at the time it was hard to believe Mel Gibson as a Scot. Now look at him. An angry, alcoholic racist.

I had this speech down in high school. Only missed 9. 'Awhile' should be one word in this case (no preposition).

Another minute or two would have helped, but I love this speech. Good choice for a quiz.

SPOILER ALERT Alas, not quite right. It ends with [Would you be willing to trade all the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance to] come back here, and [tell our enemies, that they may take our lives. But they'll never take, our freedom!]

Excellent quiz. One of my favorite movie moments of all time. Another minute is probably a good idea. Bonus points for including "Alba gu BrĂ th!"

I keep on getting it mixed up with Aragorn's inspirational speech at the end of the Return of the King!

I find it amusing that you call it by its actual name ("Stirling Bridge") as opposed to just "Stirling," as it is titled in the movie, given the significance of the bridge in the real-life battle and its notable absence in the film

I'm also making a movie speech quiz except I can't get it to accept the lone word "I" for some reason. How did you get it to work? Great quiz by the way! Love this movie.

in the actual speech in the film towards the end he says 'would you be willing to trade all of the days from this day that, for one chance, just one chance, TO COME BACK HERE AND TELL OUR ENEMIES, that they may take our lives, but they'll never take our freedom!'

It's a good film as a yarn but there is very little that is factually correct. Even the concept of 'freedom' for the common Scots of the time wouldn't have crossed Wallace's mind nor anyone elses. The poofy future Edward II had four children by Isabella, who never met Wallace and didn't arrive in England until after his death in 1305. If Wallace impregnated her he must have been a paedo she being so young. What an insult to one of Scotland's greatest national hero's. Thanks Mr Gibson.
