Can you name the countries of the world for each of these flags from A to Z?
created by
sproutcm
Enter an answer in the box below
Correctly named answers will show up below
Note: There are no countries of the world that start with W or X. Also, most of the flags are in a 2:3 ratio, but others that aren't are scaled to fit that 2:3 ratio so look like they are floating.

Great quiz, but there is just one problem. I have seen the Haitian flag, I have even colored a replica of the flag, that is not the Haitian flag. That might be the backing of the flag, but it is missing a design containing palm trees, cannon balls, and other items. Again, great quiz!!

@Statetravelr I have fixed the Haiti flag. I downloaded all the flags from a site, and they had two flags for Haiti, but I think they mislabeled which one was the official national flag. Thanks for catching that!

No Western Sahara or Wales?

@Sandman3: The author of this quiz is following Sporcle convention, and, indeed, global convention. Wales and Western Sahara are not recognized as independent countries. Sproutcm would get far more unnecessary comments and criticism for including them and confusing quiz-takers. This quiz is perfect.

Also, the new Libyan flag is beautiful. I also like Kenya, Barbados and South Korea. Equatorial Guinea on the other hand...

Great quiz, but I thought that the Libya flag was one color (green). Did they change their flag recently?

Qatar looks more like Bahrain. Isn't Qatar supposed to be more brownish?

I know this is completely off-topic, but some flags of Islamic countries that depict the crescent moon and a star (most probably the "star" is the planet Venus, that appears brighter than any true star) have an obvious error. Take Algeria: the star is inside the crescent, but a star in that position can't be seen (it's occulted by the dark part of the moon). However, Turkey and seemingly Libya have the correct images: the star is just outside the dark part of the moon's disk.

Senator, I knew the Haitian flag. I served with the Haitian flag. The Haitian flag was a friend of mine. Senator, that is not the Haitian flag. (sorry, couldn't help being reminded of this from Statetravelr's comment).

@JaguarGator9: Yes, Libya reverted to its old, pre-Gaddafi flag after he was overthrown last year. The solid green colored flag was in use only under Gaddafi's regime.

I agree with indianwolf. I can't believe Sandman3 gave -3 points for that. Actually, I don't even know how to give more than -1 for a quiz, but to give a negative rating for not including obvious non-UN-recognized countries is messed up. In regards to other comments: Libya changed her flag after the revolution. Qatar is maroon, while Bahrain is a brighter red. Also, does anyone else feel like a Pepsi after looking at South Korea's flag?

@koopa: The -3 is not sandman's rating for the game, but rather the difference between the number of negative votes that comment has received from other Sporclers versus the positive. (For example, if I were to vote your comment down by clicking on the red arrow, it would change your 'comment score' to zero.)

@Golden: No. The flag you're thinking of does have a symbol on its middle stripe, but it's not a solid orangish disk. In fact, the symbol (a chakra) is usually colored dark or navy blue. (Also, the top stripe is actually designated as "saffron" in color, not the bright orange in the image.)

@fw1812: Yes, but Algeria is also officially the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria. Sporcle uses common names except when it would otherwise be unclear (e.g. Democratic Republic of Congo and Republic of Congo).

It ought to be guessed in order. Otherwise this is a 'list a bunch of countries randomly' quiz. Useless without making the answers in order.

@golden - no it is not India, it is Niger. India is same background, but has a sort of wheel in the middle(blue or black), while Niger just has the orange circle

Why would you need to guess them in order? They're already in alphabetical order, so you can only be trying for one answer when you are typing something in. No need to add clicking the correct box, it would just waste time.

I suspect Libya contrived that whole coup just so they could get a snappier flag.
