Welcome to the first Sporcle Puzzle Hunt. Feel free to click on the blog link at the top of the quiz to learn more about what's going on here. This comment is to make sure that people really take care to NOT post spoilers or answers to these puzzle quizzes. That will ruin things for other people trying to solve them, and those comments will be removed.

Considering all the hair I've pulled out on TV & Movies, very pleased to have gotten this one in the first 30 minutes. OK, back to work on my baldness...

Thank goodness. I was beginning to think I would never again be able to solve the puzzle. Back to ladders, tv, black and white...oh my I have a lot to figure out!

And for those who (like me) couldn't find that link once he'd hit "Stats", here it is again for the Results page:

Back on track after getting quizzes 1-5, and not getting 6-8. Sproutcm is merciful here on quiz 9.

It's comforting to know others are still working on some of the previous quizzes! Thought I was being stupid! Movies and Just For Fun (getting less fun by the day!) are frying my brain! May have to leave it for a while and return with a fresh perspective!

Are there any rules against working with a partner? I have 7 of the 9, but the last 2 are killing me. If there is a rule--implied or otherwise--I will respect that. If not, I can be reached by the email address in my profile.

Without trying to give anything away, where I live, the 3rd war is very commonly known by another name which is not a given answer.

@ legriff: this was probably the easiest of all the puzzles so far. once you've figured it out, it's easy to see what sproutcum is looking for with the war in question. i honestly don't believe he's trying to throw anyone a curve ball here.

@richardkiewalker - True, and I'm not suggesting an intentional curveball at all, but there seems no reason to need to work backwards to it when your answer is right! The wiki page even lists it as such.

I found that the one answer with an accent aigu wouldn't be accepted with just a regular "e." Was that deliberate, or was it just on my computer?

Okay, they've been pretty weird before, but the answer to this one is
really
weird. It makes me wonder what the final meta-puzzle is going to be.

@beforever - I thought the same thing! (Even after the puzzle hunt answer confirmer said, "Yeah, that is one of the answers." - I kept thinking, "Seriously?!") Continued success to you =)

Woo. First one I've managed to extract off a partial solve. And I got some backsolves of the answers within the puzzle to boot. :)

(@sproutcm Thanks for permission to cheat, sorry...research. I'm in enough trouble completing the quizzes, just don't mention the metas).
