I think China as well as Canada should be accepted for C. It depends on whether you count inland water as to which is the larger country.

@jefe_ People have different methods, not everyone moves onto the next initial letter after getting one wrong. So it's very possible to run out of clicks before getting to all the letters.

It seems that for a few of these, the generic map of the world is really out of proportion...

Isn't Greenland being part of Denmark (although annoying) the Sporcle Standard?

@Colmar: It doesn't actually matter for this quiz. The DRC is still larger, even though it certainly doesn't look that way with the Mercator projection..

Awesome concept; fun quiz. Utterly mortifying that, having got the U answer right, I clicked on another U country as if I forgot that three seconds earlier, I already put that letter to bed.

Very surprised about the N answer. I would have bet it's Nigeria. Turns out the two are close in size, but Nigeria has 10 times the population.

Why in some games Greenland is considered to be part of Denmark but not this one? Denmark with Greenland should be the largest among D countries

Actually, DRC is larger than Denmark even if you include Greenland.

@MysticalCowz: It's probably because people are doing it in alphabetical order.

"DRC is larger than denmark even if you inclue Greenland" That's odd. On world maps, such as Google maps, Greenland looks almost as large as Africa. And yet the official area for DRC is larger. I don't understand.

On the Mercator projection McNuts, polar regions especially look enormous because they are 'stretched' to make the spherical(ias) Earth fit on a rectangular map.

Whatever the reason, I'm still surprised that Russia, Oman, Qatar, Yemen aren't above 2/3 right. Also surprised Zambia isn't above 50%

Given your disclaimer about country size, not just landmass size, I would really have thought some of the archipelago nations (Indonesia, Philippines, Micronesia) would have come in here. Seems that there's a LOT of ocean area in there.

I was going to bring up the Greenland thing, but then I read the comments and find out it was already brought up and answered. Then I saw at least 3 more comments asking an already answered question. PLEASE read before commenting. Chances are it has already been answered.

Interesting. I definitely picked Denmark and I know that the Mercator projection grossly exaggerates Greenland's size, but even my National Geographic map in the Winkel Tripel makes Greenland look bigger than the DRC.

Is there any way to allow a certain number of wrong guesses on these? I was going alphabetically and ran out of clicks before I got to the end...would have liked to have had the chance to finish it.

Do they include all countries for each letter? If so, why isn't Antarctica there?
