| @Dirk- that issue was already addressed in WeaselKing's comment up above. The term "daddy long legs" is used differently in different parts of the world to apply, alternatively, to harvestmen, cellar spiders (Phlocidae) and crane flies. Where I grew up (Western New York) and where I live now (Ohio) the term applies to both cellar spiders and harvestmen (particularly Hadrobunus grandis, which overrun my back yard every summer) but NOT to crane flies, which we have but call "mayflies". That doesn't make any of them wrong, it just makes them regional. |
