| Outstanding convention for dealing with the 300-line limit. I have a feeling this will become the industry standard. Bravo!!! |

| Never realized until now that "Mercedes bends" was a play on words. |

| Decades of hearing this song, and I'm surprised at how many I misheard. Somebody send Don Henley to elocution lessons. |

| GREAT idea for a quiz. |

| As soon as I wrote in those final lines, I had to air-guitar the solo. |

| since when was it a Mercedes "bends"-definitely not a thing. |

| Grrr, foiled by "So" from a perfect score. Although, like adhair, I needed to think a lot about a few of them that I apparently have misheard for decades. |

| Using the hint column for article is such an elegant solution that there are dozens of us all saying "Now why didn't I think of that. Great song with lots of semi-obscure words. And 19 straight 5 Orb scores (so far) is nothing to sneeze at. |

| I love this quiz. Hotel California is one of my favorite songs. |

| OK, I admit it. I always thought he said "timpani twisted." |

| It's Mercedes "BENZ", right?
Great lyrics. They just don't write 'em like this anymore. It's all "yo yo yo get up get down" these days.
Btw, I always loved the expression "I was thinking to myself." Who else would a person be thinking to? |
 | Djibouti: | Dec 8th, 2011 at 00:19 GMT | | 6 points |
| All these years I thought they were stabbing with their steely "eyes" and it was some kind of metaphor for the looks everyone was giving him |
 | Tahnan: | Dec 8th, 2011 at 04:28 GMT | | 15 points |
| For those confused by the bit with the car: the point is that her mind is warped by money, i.e. she's "Tiffany twisted" and has the "Mercedes bends". See? It's a pun! (Don't look at me; I'm the one who told sproutcm that "Mercedes bends" was right, but the one word I missed was "Tiffany". I always thought her mind was "def'nitely twisted".) |
 | brasky645: | Dec 8th, 2011 at 05:39 GMT | | 8 points |
| I too thought it was definitely instead of Tiffany |
 | NagMeNot: | Dec 9th, 2011 at 08:29 GMT | | 6 points |
| So many misheard lyrics in this song. I think 'warm smell of colitas' hits the jackpot for anything from 'one Spanish policeman' to 'one small paraplegic'. |

| @survivorfan2000 No, the lyrics in the quiz are correct. You're just remembering it wrong. |

| Wow, glad I'm not the only one who always thought it was "definitely" twisted. Tiffany ended up being the only world I missed, and while it is my wife's name, I won't tell her that I missed it. :-) |

| Little hint. Don't try playing this game when the TV is playing other music. I had so much trouble trying to hear the song in my head with the Christmas music from "Elf" on the tube. (I did know Tiffany twisted and Mercedes bends, thogh) |

| So, I took the suggestion on the front page and had a look at the reviews of this place on Yelp. Lots of people mentioned that although the check-out process went smoothly, they were unable to find an exit. (I think some of them—maybe all?—were actually posting these reviews from the lobby of the hotel itself.) Very odd. |

| It is indeed "she got the Mercedes bends." It's a pun on getting the bends, like when you come up too fast from diving. It goes along with her mind being "Tiffany twisted." Both refer to too much wealth warping a person and making them "sick" in some way. |
