I could not get earthworm out of my head - would never have guesses eel because I just don't see the water!

I've seen more echidnas in the last week on Sporcle than I've seen in my entire life. With my luck, my first encounter with a live one will be to drive over it.

Could you replace the image of an eel with something that looks less like an earthworm? It even looks like the smooth part near the head of an earthworm is present in that picture...

Good quiz, but the embroidery example is not a good photo at all - there's absolutely no indication that there are any stiches in that example, so I spent the time trying to come up with an "e" word for the pennsylvania dutch hex symbol that is portrayed there...

Agree with other comments about the earthworm/eel thing. A picture of an eel should be in the water. Also, the piano keys do show an E sharp (F) and a little sliver of an E.

Eels are famous for crossing land on their way to get the eel sex, so the absence of water shouldn't be a problem (assuming you actually know about eels). The Embroidery picture is obviously in an embroidery ring - you can even see the closure at the top, so I don't think you can complain about that either.

eel looks like an earthworm, embroidery looks like a plate, espresso looks like beer from the tap. What's the point of this quiz, to test your vocabulary, or your ability to figure out unclear pictures? I thought it was the former. If it is, the pictures should be as clear as possible. And you shouldn't have to be an eel expert to be able to recognize one.

I have to agree with WredAguyW. It's not a stretch to accept etcetera. And according to Merriam-Webster, etcetera can be spelled as a single word. The use of ... to mean etcetera is one of the uses of the ellipis. btw, I love the word ellipsis.

@smartster Yes, Merriam-Webster does have the "et cetera" and "etcetera" but they don't mean the same thing; only the one with the space means the same thing at the ellipsis. I'll consider adding "et cetera" as a reasonable translation of the ellipsis or changing that image at some point in the future.

It's Knuckles! Also, the piano one is misleading, you should have arrows or something pointing to the black keys.

Still couldn't figure out what kind of funky booze dispenser was represented by the two shotglasses.

you should have chosen pictures that begin with 'e' universally. This may be an american website, but there are a lot of British users, so 'eggplant' isn't really a good idea.

I didn't get eggplant purely because I think eggplant is a stupid name for anything, it's like something a child would come up with. I'm not insulting any user of that word or indeed USA as a nation but in my opinion it's Aubergine. Good quiz though, can't fault you there.

I got eggplant. Part of the fun/challenge of these quizzes is knowing what things are called in different places around the world. I didn't get embroidery though as I thought it was a diagram of something scientific. I tried 'enzyme' then got stuck.
