Can you name the images that each start with the letter 'C'?
created by
sproutcm
Enter an answer in the box below
Correctly named answers will show up below
If your obvious answer isn't working, you probably have to be more specific. For example, CRUSTACEAN or CONIFER is too general; you need to identify the specific CRUSTACEAN or CONIFER in the photo.

I think you should accept crustacean for crayfish. But otherwise, nice work. I enjoyed the quiz a lot.

I think you have to accept conifer for the cedar tree. Its really hard to tell thats a cedar from that vantage point. Since a cedar is a conifer, i think you need to include it.

Maybe accept "carbon" for coal since that's what it primarily is?

@all Hmm... I'm not sure that i want to accept general categories when something specific is pictures as with crayfish and cedar. I clearly didn't give you a white pine tree or barnacles. As for carbon for coal, that's definitely no. There is way more in coal than just carbon (so sayeth the chemist.)

I think you should stick to your guns, sproutcm. Don't accept conifer or crustacean. There's plenty of time for people to get the answers you're looking for. OK, I know it can't last, but so far I've gotten all 20 on the first three of these!

Did fine of A and B, but stunk this one up. This cyclops is apparently a pretty well known one but I never saw the movie. I couldn't tell from this picture he has only one eye. How about a different angle?

I agree that you should stick to being very specific and not accept general descriptions. However you need to change your cedar picture. Since it's not close enough to see the leaves it's impossible to tell what kind of tree it is. And since the majority of cedars don't look like the one in your picture it really just becomes luck and not skill in identify what tree is in your pic.

@polarbarrett: Don't violins, violas, cellos, and basses all look essentially the same except for size?

@jubu97rn: Double basses have curved sides where the body meets the neck. Cellos also lack the chin rest that violins and violas tend to have.

That cello only looks like a viola if you are a) mental or b) think the man standing next to the cello is smaller than an action man toy (and therefore mental). Thought the quiz was going to be really easy at first but got stuck on 4-5, and had to think - which for me is the mark of a good Sporcle quiz.

^ The chinaman is not the issue here, Dude. I'm talking about drawing a line in the sand, Dude. Across this line, you DO NOT... Also, Dude, chinaman is not the preferred nomenclature. Asian-American, please.

@floydpink In the instructions, it says you have to be as specific as possible in your answer. It even gives crustacean as an answer that it too broad to count, and you have to be more specific.

1) I admit I tried "claymation" for the movie monster. 2) The tiny scale of the launching device threw me off in a good way. and 3) Why would "Chinaman" be acceptable for a cellist born in Paris and raised in New York? That makes no sense.

I thought I had the tree nailed with "conifer." Perhaps that should be accepted as an alternative.
