I kept thinking the Philadelphia college was called "Drexler," but that was the Portland basketball player.

Its malicious, not malicous(Santa's reindeer). Also this was rather US centric, compared to the others in the series.

This was the first one so far for which I remembered there was a pattern and then figured it out. Still missed xylophone. *facepalm*

Though Xerox headquarters are in CT, using "based" is misleading (the majority of Xerox employees are still in NYS).

I really love those quizzes, but it is quite disappointing that so much is based on US-American knowledge. For me as a European it is almost impossible to take those quizzes, because of all the state/state capital/sports team questions. A little bit more internationality would be great! :)

I don't think the question about the state capital named after a bird belongs in the 'Hard' section.

Whoops, I completely missed the pattern. I looked at the results and was like, oh they all have x in them. That would have been nice to know during the quiz.

Yes, it was xtremely annoyxing to find out the paxxern after the game. Only got ourselves to blame though. Nice one, but I second the comment about "Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen" - while rulers names often get translated (apart from Wilhelm-William e.g. Friedrich-Frederick or Heinrich-Henry), I doubt that this is normally done with names of "ordinary people". So William Röntgen sounds somewhat like Mike Gorbachev, Frank Mitterand or Nick Tesla.

Well, as a Brit I like to think that my US knowledge is good (certainly better than the average American's knowledge of non-US stuff) and I didn't find most of the US questions very difficult. But with two exceptions - I wonder if anyone outside of North America has ever heard of a cereal called Trix or a college called Drexel.

I try the Red Sox for every baseball, American football or basketball question because they're the only American sports team I know. The one time I didn't... grrr. I least I know what sport they play now.

i really dislike using "phoenix" as a description for "city named after a bird"... i thought common use refereed to a mythical winged creature...... but not a bird?

Not affecting the outcome of answers, but the Wachowskis aren't brothers any more. Larry now goes by Lana. He (she) transitioned into a female somewhere around 2008.

@Ulkomaalainen: the modern trend is towards keeping the original names, while in older times they were usually translated (even the surnames were anglicised, e.g. Ferdinand Magellan and not Fernão de Magalhães). However, whether a name sounds strange or not is only a matter of custom. We are accustomed to seeing Joseph (and not Iosif) Stalin but Benito (and not Benedict) Mussolini. One was translated and the other not, although they were both dictators and lived at the same time.

So, I get the Pope's name but missed the Red Sox. Not that I'm religious at all, but goes to show how ignorant I am about sports. @bamber Have you seen "Kill Bill"? If so, "Trix" would've immediately come to your mind. ;)

@DeliciousPoop: well, a mythical bird is still a bird, but I agree that it would have been better to include the adjective "mythical" before "bird". Of course the "6th largest city" helps, but probably some players began wondering about a state capital named after a real bird. If the question had been about a famous horse of ancient Greece, most Sporclers would have thought of Bucephalus (Alexander the Great's horse) and not of Pegasus.

So there's a theme huh? Hmm let me see... over half of the questions are geared to Americans? No that can't be it or it'll be all of them. Let's look at the answers, matrix, vixen, fox, nixon, xerox. Tough. Nope I give up
