I'm not even going to attempt this quiz, because I probably wouldn't do very well, but I am giving you 5 globes to offset the jerk who gave you 1 as the first rating. The quiz looks fine.

@puckett86: Why not try it? It doesn't matter if you do well or not. Great quiz sproutcm. I will also give you 5 orbs.

@leppyfresh Ok, I got 25. See, I suck at music quizzes. But you're right. Great quiz spoutcm!

"McCartney & Wonder" sounds really, really cool, far cooler than a collaboration that produced "*cough* & Ivory" deserves to.

Popfact! 14 of these also reached Number One in the UK chart (although over here Careless Whisper was a George Michael solo single). "It's My *cough*" also reached number one several years later in the form of a cover by Dave Stewart and Barbara Gaskin. Not the Dave Stewart who was in Eurythmics, the one who was in Egg and Uriah and Bruford.

Great quiz! One thing: the Gwen Stefani clue could also be "Rich Girl," which is off the same album (Love.Angel.Music.Baby.) as "Hollaback Girl."

Careless Whisper is actually from George Michael but in the US, it was credited to Wham! featuring George Michael.

@FreakyFlyBry: Ah, you're right! It only hit #3 on the U.S. Billboard Pop 100 (and #2 on a few of the overseas charts). Pretty sneaky, sproutcm...good work! ;-)

@LTH I only made it forced entry, so that people who wanted to try to do it from just the blanks and the year could do it without seeing the artist, but if people want just to be typing in, I did make sure none of the words overlapped.

I'm with AhLeah (Leah, Leah). I got everything up to 1992, then it was hit or miss. I did get 44, tho! Five globes because it was fun.

Loved it. It was like a time machine to present. Always thought it was Cracklin' Rose but tried Rosie as an alternate. Missed Gaga and Nelly. If it was "____ in Here" I woulda gotten it but that's not how the song is spelled...lol. I was like, Why did Nelly sing a German song?..lol.

"Macarthur Park" was done originally by Richard Harris in 1968. Got them all, though. Nice quiz spanning the whole rock era.

All I could think of for 1970 was "Oat Bran." Apparently, that particular song was never #1.

@Jamessir: If the clue had been "____ in Here," then the clue would've been wrong. Nelly's song WAS spelled "Herre." (According to Nelly, it was done deliberately because of how Nelly pronounces the word--the word is pronounced to rhyme with "were" or "her"--which Nelly claims is a St Louis accent. I'm guessing he didn't spell it as "her" because he actually wanted DJs to play the song; spelling it as "her" might be a bit, um, suggestive. Most all words that end with an "-eer" sound, for MOST people, rhyme with "her" and "were" in Nelly's songs.)

@sproutcm: Were the selections for 1972 and 1979 made deliberately? I find coincidence a bit hard to believe.

If I'm not mistaken, "Ebony and Ivory" was done by McCartney and Jackson, not Wonder.

Sorry jamjar62. It was McCartney and Wonder. McCartney and Jackson did "The Girl is Mine" and "Say, Say, Say"

Fun quiz! And yes, "Ebony and Ivory" was Wonder/McCartney. "You are black and I am white/You're blind as a bat and I have sight." Remmeber the SNL parody? :)

For the Boys II Men I tried everything from "one" to "bent". Stupid verbs! Seeing some of these titles really brings memories of the 90s back.
