BAFTA made me dafta! (sorry). Knew I'd seen it before but couldn't even remember what field it's from. This type of quiz always makes my head hurt, but in a good way!

Could you maybe accept organisation for organization? I tried it twice but stupidly didn't think of the American spelling. I liked this quiz though.

Hey, I'm an American, but Enjay's comment made me think. SEATO's website (seato.org) spells it like organisation, so while both should be accepted, that should be the displayed answer. Although, weirdly, while most of the page spells it with an S, the title of the page is with a Z. Strange. And yes I think spelling it with an S is weird to begin with. It's clearly voiced.

Conversely, DARPA is an American organization. Spell DEFENSE the American way.

Funny how words like "of" and "the" are usually excluded from initialisms, and yet they decided to go with POTUS and not PUS

@ManlyStump A few years back, a friend and I were going to a music festival where Presidents Of The United States of America were performing. When talking about the lineup we abbreviated it, and they've been POTUSA (pot user) ever since.

It's amusing to read the words in the order of the percentage of people who guessed them. You find phrases such as "National Disc Association", "Compact American People", "Breathing Free", "Self-United States Contained in Only President", "Not My Organisation", "Back-yard South-British Treaty", and "Advanced Research Control (by) Simulated Warning".

It's not his name, it's his title. And he isn't my friend, he's my boss. POTUS? President of the United States. (crash to title sequence)

Mensa is not an acronym. It is Latin for table. The odd looking M in the logo is a table.

You should make one like a history edition. You could use civil rights groups (SCLC, SNCC, NAACP), trade groups, and military groups all regarding American history.

@dbcint: if the A in BAFTA was for "awards" they wouldn't need to call them the BAFTA Awards, would they? OK, I guess people who say "PIN number" would!

@ezois: yes, Mensa is "table" in Latin, but most likely the primary source of the name is the Latin "mens" (mind). I don't know what has a table (furniture, a scientific table is "tabula") to do with high intelligence quotients. However, as you say, the logo shows indeed a table.

@Deepbite: Thanks. :-) It's my all time favorite show. I was actually waiting for someone to point out that that particular scene (with Rob Lowe) didn't actually crash to the title sequence. ;) But that's where I learned what POTUS stood for!
