Great idea. A bonus answer for male first name would be Rain Man, as that was a child's corruption of Raymond.

LOVE this quiz. Great concept, really well executed. One formatting quibble: while the "nice try but that's wrong" entries are cute, they visually make me feel like I've gotten more right than I have. What about grouping them all in their own "close but no cigar" category? (In an ideal Sporcle world they could be formatted in a different color, of course, but failing that it would be nice to keep them apart.)

Oops, Rain Man IS one of the bonus answers, for that VERY reason, but you made me realize there was a typo in that answer line, so it didn't come up until just now. Thanks for helping me find the error.

Great job with this. 5 stars all the way. My only suggestion is that I really think you should make people type out the film's name. This is most noticably a problem in the "elements" section, since there are only 4 possibilities. Typing Earth/Air/Fire/Water gets you all the movies in 3 seconds. But I'm not complaining: this is really well-executed

Absolutely wonderful quiz. I don't think I have ever gotten so many bonus answers on a single quiz before ha. But I agree with Phalanx not only for that reason but also I typed in the full name of the films first and they didn't get taken. But great stuff 5 Sporcle's and nominated.

I typed in Deer Hunter and Silence of the Lambs and nothing came up. You should also only accept the full titles of the movies. Otherwise, the elements and the numbers are too easy.

a man for all seasons is ridiculous to guess... but everything else was good

Minor suggestion - even though "man" is technically an animal, perhaps you could also accept "people" (for Ordinary People), at least as a bonus. I didn't think of A Man for All Seasons, but I was thinking along that line, so I tried Ordinary People just for the heck of it. Awesome quiz, though!

@phalanx/bugs -- typing out the entire film's title wouldn't work since this would make this very good quiz redundant and simply a 'name as many best picture winners as you can' quiz, which we already have.

Possibility for another bonus answer: the first Academy Awards arguably had two Best Pictures, since "Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans" was given the award for "Most Artistic Quality of Production". If that movie is counted, then the "two" counts as a number and the "humans" potentially counts as an animal. Just an idea.

Could rain not be considered an element?

Why not My Fair "Lady" for animal - if you're giving credit for "Man" and "People"? For that matter, shouldn't Rain Man also work for that category?

@gwynn1984 I'm not sure why, but Rain Man was missing. The difference is that man/human/men/people can refer to the species and things like Godfather and King and Lady don't refer to humans in general.

i don't really dig that 5 of the answers in the animal category are some form of "man"--it kinda puts us creationists at a disadvantage since we don't typically consider man an animal, lol.

Sporcle quizzes are valuable...this one made me remember what a great movie "Marty" was, so I'm going out to rent it right now!

since you accept man, men, and people, how about gentlemen's agreement, best picture 1947?

After much soul searching, originally I didn't include humans, and then people asked, and now I've relegated them back to the bonuses. So, since they are the lowest answered ones: man/men/people aren't needed for animals anymore.

Love the quiz and love the bonus answers. I think "Citizen Kane" deserves one as well.

Great quiz, though I have to disagree about L.A. Confidential. Titanic deserved to win.
